You expect me to say something profoundly beautiful about love. Truth is... I don’t know the first profoundly beautiful thing about it.
No one does.
— SANDS MARQUEE

L'AMOUR EN NOIR (translated "Love in Black") is a collection of three FILM NOIR SCREENPLAYS filled to the brim with the best the genre has to offer:

PINOT NOIR. Their lives intertwined the night they met, and it's been downhill ever since. Now, one is dead, and the other's an alcoholic with a crippled heart, desperately searching for the person responsible. Everything could've turned out differently. If only they never said those simple, foolish words "I love you".

MOONLIGHT THROUGH THE PINES. In the dark of night, those wide awake are those that dream the deepest. While soft breezes caress tender skin, and midnight blues cover the sky, the moon calls out to those below, bathing them in light and hope. On this beautiful night, two teens happen upon each other-- trapped in a world they can survive no longer, and hungry for the freedom that lies far away.

SANDS MARQUEE. A hardhearted thief and brokenhearted detective navigate a deadly maze littered with murder, lies, corruption, and bloodguilt. The closer they reach the coveted missing fortune, the more they realize their attraction to each other-- despite both still carrying the weight of the previous loves they lost. Is it too soon to move on? There's a lesson to be learned about love. It's not as pretty as you'd think.

With works ranging from digital novellas (Slicks, High School Noir) to comic books (The Spade), RICH ETIENNE not only introduces his first book to be both printed and self-published, but invites you into a world of screenwriting that shows love at its worst. Love at its most painful. Love in black.
